Changes to Voter I.D. Laws

As of August 28th, 2022, Missouri voters must have a valid, non-expired form of photo ID issued by the Missouri state government or the United States federal government.

ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF VOTER ID
Show one of the forms of acceptable identification and sign the poll book to obtain your ballot:

    • A non-expired Missouri driver or non-driver license;

    • A non-expired military ID, including a veteran’s ID card;

    • A non-expired United States passport; or

    • Another photo ID issued by the United States or the state of Missouri which is either not expired or expired after the date of the most recent general election.

*If the driver or non-driver license has expired after the most recent general election, it is an acceptable form of voter ID.

**While registered voters without the proper ID may cast a provisional ballot on Election Day, the satellite absentee locations will not have provisional ballots.

The recent changes to Missouri’s voter ID laws have eliminated several forms of ID that were previously available, such as the Voter ID cards issued by local election authorities and utility bills for proof of residence.
